Inspired by Fran McVeigh and Beverly Baird (check out their posts here and here), I decided to write a slice about the present moment.

Watching the sun peek over the Grand Mesa, tingeing the world with a soft glow.

Drinking my morning cup of coffee—sipping carefully so I don’t burn my tongue.

Listening to my family get ready for Saturday baseball games.

Enjoying the quinoa breakfast bake that melts in my mouth with the mingled flavors of raspberry, pecan, and cinnamon.

Jotting down this weekend’s to-do list and thinking about budgeting my time wisely.

Anticipating this morning’s hike with friends and the sunshine that is sure to accompany it.

Wishing my brother good-bye as he heads back to school after spring break.

Perusing today’s slices, loving the dedication of this month’s bloggers.

Loving the fact that today is Saturday and spring break beckons just over the horizon!

Thanks to Stacey, Anna, Beth, Tara, Dana, and Betsy at Two Writing Teachers for creating a place for writers to share their work and hosting the March Slice of Life Story Challenge!

  1. Your slice sounds as though your Saturday is going to be filled with events. I love the fact that you have noticed the small things. I think I would like that breakfast bake, sounds delicious.

  2. Your first two lines had me “wishing” I was sitting next to you…sounds enjoyable. Are you in Arizona? That is where my sister is.
Perusing is one of my favorite words!!! Never new quinoa could be breakfast!
