I came across this quote today from author Ayn Rand:
Words are a lens to focus one’s mind.
I love how this quote applies to the March Slice of Life Challenge. With the discipline of writing daily, I find that I am more focused and reflective than I might otherwise be. It is as if every observation, sensation, and fleeting thought that crosses my mind is possible material for writing; the words act as a lens to magnify certain thoughts and blur out others.
Somehow, words seem to crystallize thoughts, giving them shape and form rather than mere abstraction. Words have power. Words give meaning. Words breathe life.
How will words and writing focus your mind?
