Sounds of spring

On this last day of spring break, I sat outside during halftime of the UNC-Kentucky game, soaking in the late afternoon rays of sunshine.  As I sat down, I was assailed by the noises of springtime all around me, subtle at first but soon creating a vibrant symphony of sound.

The growling lawnmower across the street mingled with the birds chirping merrily away on a nearby fence post.  The wind chime softly played its music as it danced in the breeze.  The laughter of kids rang from the cul-de-sac as they rode their bikes around the neighborhood.  The muffled voices from the house next door as the neighbors chatted on their porch.

These familiar sounds made me smile as I thought about the warm weather and summertime that is just around the corner.  Even though it’s supposed to rain a few days this week, spring is finally here!
