Living in Expectancy

Each morning dawns, full of new opportunities.

They linger in the crisp morning air as each breath creates a frosty puff.

They wait in the rays of sunshine casting a pink glow across the sky.

They dance in the quiet moments in the car on the drive to school.

They rise in the scent of freshly brewed coffee.

They whisper in the empty classroom, ready for another day.

We can begin the day with a sense of expectancy, and we can live in such a way that each moment brims with possibility.  We can look for it in a smile, a hug, an encouraging word, a conversation, a question.

And when night falls, we know it will happen again.  In the still moments before sleep overtakes us, we can expect new opportunities to come.  Tomorrow.

  1. I love the idea of “expectancy” and like the word so much better than “anticipation.” You piece does a nice job personifying our expectations, and giving a voice to the slices that find the extra- in the ordinary!
